| Welcome to Crick House |
Crick House Interiors is so much more than "just another kitchen company".Based in rural Oxfordshire, we are a family run company committed to creating distinctive, truly bespoke handmade furniture. Each piece is conceived and built completely from scratch - in our own workshops - exclusively for you; to suit your home and lifestyle. And we don’t restrict ourselves to the kitchen but design and hand-make furniture for every other room in your home. As well as our bespoke furniture we also have extensive collections of "off the peg" furniture, homeware, cookware, accessories and gifts. We are a small Family company and have been perfecting our service and product for 20 years. Rather than operating along corporate mass-market lines we offer personal and individual service tailored specifically to you. You will be known by name and everyone at Crick House will be involved in your project at one point or other! You are welcome at our showrooms and workshops at any time. We understand how important and unique your project is to you. Truly bespoke - Each piece is designed specifically for you. We have no pre-set sizes or designs. We can craft furniture in any style and have no "ranges". We can make pieces for any room in the house - not just your kitchen. Furniture is hand finished to your requirements. Again, there are no set finishes, no specific colours or paint finishes. We love personal touches - dog kennels in dressers, tall shelves to fit your favourite cereal packets or your oversized wine glasses! We rise to challenges presented by sloping ceilings, old uneven walls and floors, posts in the middle of rooms. We will work with you until you are happy with the final design. It will be truly bespoke — unique to you and your home. Real Wood - Perhaps the single biggest fact that sets us apart from other companies is the fact that we deal only in real wood. Your furniture starts life in our cabinet shops as rough sawn timber - often still with bark attached! Even our carcasses are handmade by us in our cabinet shops from solid pine. From reliable, renewable sources we buy pine, oak, ash, maple, chestnut, sycamore, iroko, elm, cherry, beech and many others. Each wood has it's own unique character and style and we will choose wood which will complement and enhance your design. Nothing beats the warmth and feel of real wood. Each piece is individual - with different grain and distinctive markings. We even have a piece of French oak with a genuine WW2 bullet encased inside. You don't get that with chipboard and MDF!!!!! The same applies to our worktops - we handmake every worktop individually from a variety of woods. But, of course, in line with our totally bespoke philosophy we don't only deal in wooden worktops - if you want granite, slate, tiles, marble, stainless steel, even glass then this is what we will give you. Handmade - When we say Handmade that's exactly what we mean. Rather than "hand assembled" from ready made components which is what often passes for handmade, bespoke furniture. We hand make every single component of your furniture: Carcasses, worktops, drawers, doors, shelves.... All are made individually and specifically for you by your cabinet maker when he starts making your furniture. Not that we deal in averages but to give you an idea, our "average" sized kitchen will involve hundreds of pieces of wood which we cut to size, plane and sand and then put together bit by bit using traditional cabinet making skills. We buy in nothing pre-made. You’d be amazed at how many so-called “handmade” kitchens are actually only a step away from flat-pack ready-to-assemble. It is our greatest and yet often most unrecognised distinction that we handmake all our furniture in our own cabinet shops and welcome you to come and see work in progress. Technology - We take pride in the traditional, painstaking methods we use to hand craft your furniture, however this does not mean we are out of touch with the demands of modern life and trends in contemporary design. State of the art appliances can all be hidden away or brazenly shown off. Designs can incorporate coffee makers, plate warmers, extractor fans, waste disposals, water softeners, water filtration taps, built in scales, pullout larder mechanisms, drawer runner systems, pan drawers, lifts, skirt heaters, flip-down TVs.... If you want it, it will be in your finished kitchen. Value for money - As you can see, the product and service we offer is second to none. However, this does not come at a prohibitive cost. Far from it! We know from our own research that we offer incredible value. Rapturous feedback and recommendations from our existing (and often returning) clients bears this out time and time again. Some companies offer inferior products at premium prices relying on name and often undeserved reputation. We are proud that Crick House has earnt a reputation for outstanding quality and exceptional value for money.
